COMPOSITION

Josh’s compositional style is influenced by Jazz, Minimalism and Neoclassicism. Following his undergraduate degree, Josh went onto complete an MA in Composition at Cardiff University where he achieved a Distinction. His thesis composition written for his Masters is a piece written for Orchestra called ‘Land, Sky and Sea.’  

 

Some of Josh's other notable works include his piece 'Cliffhanger Rhapsody' for Clarinet Quintet was first played by the Endymion Ensemble in Cardiff, 2018. 'Suspended Rail' composed for a Quartet consisting of Horn, Violin, Cello and Piano was first played by the Robin Green Quartet in Cardiff, 2019.

 

Josh's work has also been performed by Cardiff University ensembles including the Big Band, Jazz Orchestra and Brass Band. ​Josh is currently working on a new large orchestral piece alongside several smaller scale chamber pieces. 

 

Josh also composes music to film and popular music. He likes to use a mixture of recording traditional instruments along with synthesizers and digital effects.​ If you are interested in commissioning a new work please get in touch.
